The number of company registrations dropped an annual 10 per cent in August to 910, the lowest figure in two years, the Department of Registrar of Companies and Official Receiver said.
From January to August, the number of company registrations, which gauge the performance of the business services sector, fell marginally to 8,662 compared to the respective period last year, the department said in an emailed statement. Applications for names rose last month 8.1 per cent to 2,039 and 3 per cent in the first eight months of the year.
The issue of certified documents rose in August 7.4 per cent compared with a year before to 23,234 and 3.9 per cent to 209,121, the department said. Finally, the submission of other documents rose 5.3 per cent to 9,059 last month and 3.1 per cent to 85,888 in the first eight months of the year.
