Police in Larnaca have arrested a man who has been accused of breaking into the home of his ex-girlfriend and raping her in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A 42-year-old man was set to be taken before a magistrate at Larnaca District Hospital later on Sunday where police will request to keep him in remand for eight days while investigations continue.
He is currently under suspicion for charges relating to rape, assault, causing grievous bodily harm, domestic violence and illegal possession of a knife.
According to the complaint from the man’s 47-year-old ex-partner, the suspect had broken into her home in Larnaca at around 4.30am in the morning whilst she was sleeping in her bed.
He then proceeded to rape her before then leaving.
