Hoteliers in the north are happy with the occupancy rate of their hotels for April 2017 as figures reached 60% for all holiday resorts, from five star hotels to bungalows and boutique hotels.
According to the Turkish Cypriot Union of Hoteliers, the five star hotels saw an average occupancy rate of 72%, rising by 14% in comparison with April 2016.
As far as the smaller hotels are concerned the occupancy rate for April stood at 47%, an 11% increase in comparison with the same month last year.
The Union of hoteliers in the north are particularly happy with the development and attribute the increase in tourists staying at their hotels to the campaigns made abroad.
They call upon authorities to increase their efforts to solve the problem of getting tourists to the north, which they consider to be the biggest impediment for the development of the tourist industry.
